The Bugle Made Me Famous

Oh boy, John Oliver read my email on my favorite podcast, The Bugle (iTunes).

For the curious, the theme is called "Tide of Empire" and I think it was written by George Chase for a stock music library. According to this source it was the theme for "TV-8 Reports" on KFMB-TV Channel 8 (CBS) in San Diego, circa 1970. It's sort of available from a company called Valentino, but it's a music licensing company and, probably sanely, doesn't expect people to buy their music for listening pleasure.

Chase's music also appeared in Plan 9 from Outer Space and The Adventures of Superman.

New Malkmus

I haven't liked any Pavement/Stephen Malkmus record this much since Slanted and Enchanted. Okay, maybe Crooked Rain.
